CONCEPT
The Indoor Air Quality Sensor is a sophisticated device designed to measure and monitor the air quality within buildings or vehicles. Its primary function is to detect various pollutants and irritants that can negatively affect the health and well-being of occupants. Recognizing that these sensors are typically deployed in homes, offices, and similar environments, the design process emphasized both aesthetic appeal and functional excellence.
The goal was to create a product that seamlessly blends with its surroundings while providing accurate and reliable air quality monitoring. This approach ensures a harmonious balance between visual design and practical performance, making the sensor an unobtrusive yet essential part of any indoor space.

Throughout the design process, careful attention was paid to the following points.

CONCEPT 3D RENDERS
Numerous concept designs were explored before arriving at the ultimate final design. Each concept was meticulously evaluated for its feasibility, functionality, and alignment with the vision of creating an innovative and user-centric design.


MECHANICAL DESIGN
The final product was thoughtfully designed, taking into consideration the advantages and strengths from previous concepts, resulting in a culmination of the best features for an exceptional user experience.



COLOUR SELECTION
The white and grey color palette is chosen to ensure the design feels minimalistic and modern. White signifies cleanliness and purity, reflecting the sensor’s purpose of monitoring and ensuring healthy air quality. Grey complements the E Ink display, allowing the display to blend seamlessly with the device’s overall design. This combination ensures that the sensor not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of any environment but also maintains a cohesive, unobtrusive presence in both home and office settings.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
Compact Design
The Internal Air Quality device sets a new standard for compactness while incorporating a state-of-the-art E-Ink display. Measuring merely a few inches in size, this device boasts an incredibly sleek and minimalistic design.


E-Ink Display
The 2.66-inch E-Ink display used in the Internal Air Quality device is a compact and energy-efficient screen designed to showcase essential information about indoor air quality.
Display is known for its low power consumption and excellent visibility under various lighting conditions, making it an ideal choice for this application.
Optimal Airflow
The strategic placement of multiple vents throughout the device allows a steady flow of air to circulate effectively around the internal components.
Heat-generating components emit thermal radiation that may interfere with sensor measurements, leading to inaccuracies. To address this, a clear physical separation is ensured between sensors and heat sources, preventing direct exposure to excessive heat and maintaining unbiased and accurate air quality readings.

Enhanced Cable Organization
The rear casing features a well-designed additional trim, meticulously crafted to conceal cable management. This thoughtful detail not only keeps the cables organized and out of sight but also contributes to the device’s overall sleek and uncluttered look.


Gesture Control
Instead of conventional button-based interfaces, the Air Quality Sensor incorporates intuitive gesture control, allowing users to navigate through various air quality parameters with a simple wave of the hand. This advanced technology enables effortless switching between measurements and customization of the monitoring experience, enhancing user interaction and convenience.
